Welcome to AP Psychology at PHS! I'm excited you have chosen to take this journey with me. In this course, we will explore the systematic and scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. In other words, we'll take a look at the science behind why we behave the way we do and how our minds think about it all. We will examine and assess multiple approaches adopted by psychologists, including biological, behavioral, cognitive, humanistic, psychodynamic, and sociocultural. Essentially, we'll cover all of the perspectives in the field of psychology. And, finally, we'll explore the psychological facts, principles, and phenomena associated with each of the major sub-fields within psychology. That means studying psychological careers ranging from scientific research jobs to clinical therapists to professors at major universities. The course culminates in students taking the Advanced Placement exam in May.
